The Sea Was a Fair Master by [Demmer, Calvin]Full disclosure, I was provided with a copy of this book by the author, however, have voluntarily chosen to write a review. All opinions are my own.

The Sea Was A Fair Master is set for a June 5,2018 release.

A flash fiction compilation that may give you nightmares

The Sea Was A Fair Master by author Calvin Demmer is a compilation of 23 flash fiction offerings that span every topic from aliens to the apocalypse. Checking in at roughly a hundred pages, do not let the size of this collection put you off. Each story is very well developed with characters and situations that could very easily be worthy of a larger storyline.

To be honest, this was my first experience with flash fiction. Demmer impressed me with his ability to craft a complete story from beginning to end in a short span of several hundred words. While some stories were longer than others, all are perfect and complete in the confines of their own word counts. Early standouts for me with my preferred genre being horror/ZA were Restroom Finds, Fear the Clowns, Letting the Dead Grow, and The Snakes or the Humans? If you like to read, but don’t have the time to sit and invest hours into a novel The Sea Was A Fair Master would be a good one to pick up to fill the dull spots in your day. Or, if you’re like me and have a seemingly endless TBR, the stories in this collection would be perfect for a little break in the monotony. At any rate, I can definitely see my adding more flash fiction to my reading rotation as well as more from Mr. Demmer. If you like a wide variety of genres and need a quick but great read, I would recommend The Sea was a Fair Master.
