Love Finds a Way
Mitram, a painfully introverted office worker moves into a new apartment with a strange large window. After some time, he notices a girl in the window who appears daily with her stuffed animal and talks about her day and her life. Through her, Mitram learns that she used to also live in a house with a magical window where she was able to watch a sad boy. Anjali wants to encourage whoever may be watching her now with her words and she speaks at length about the hardships in her life including a terminal diagnosis. Mitram, after realizing he’s falling in love with Anjali only through these one-sided reactions, resolves to find this woman and tell her how he feels. Stepping out of his comfort zone, he searches for any clue that will break the mystery of this magic mirror and lead him to his love. Finally, after learning the mirror’s secrets, Mitram puts everything on the line and seeks out Anjali in the hopes of sparing her from the life the mirror has shown him.
This is a super cute and hopeful fantasy and even though it was short there was so much packed into it. The story was really fantastic and at times with the twists and revelations, I felt as if I was watching a drama. There were several “give you goosebumps” moments that will have me thinking about this book for a while to come.
It must be noted that the book has been translated from its original language by the author using ChatGPT and Google Translate, but even with the challenges with some of the finer nuances of the story possibly getting lost in translation, this title still shines as one of hope and perseverance. Where others may not appreciate the lack of a “professional” translation I was not deterred and I felt that for as powerful as this book was with the author’s efforts and AI assistance, the original translation must also be something spectacular that will stick with you. The story told and the feeling that it evoked makes this a title that I will want to revisit again.
If you like fantasies that make you suspend your reality and believe that absolutely anything is possible, Out of my Window is a quick, impactful read that will captivate all ages.
Full disclosure: I was provided a copy of this title by the author or their authorized agent, however, have voluntarily provided a review. All opinions are my own.
